WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF FIRES AT HOME?

Address this topic as a family, identify emergency exits (such as a back door or low windows) in the house and do simulacrums.

Locate a meeting point for the whole family outside the house.

Call 911 once you are out of the house, not inside.

Teach children not to hide under the bed or in the closet.

TO SURVIVE IF THE FIRE OCCURS AND ...

THE DOOR OF THE ROOM IS CLOSED

Craw to the door.

Touch the door with the hand in the middle, up and down. If it is not hot, open it slowly, covering yourself with the door. There may be flames or toxic gases on the other side. If you open the door quickly, the flame will reach you directly, since you will be oxygenating and feeding the flame.

If the door is hot, do not open it and look for another exit, always crawling under the smoke.

THE DOOR IS OPEN

Crawl until you see that there is no smoke or fire and get out. If there is smoke or fire close the door and find another way to escape.

IF FIRE OCCURS IN A BUILDING

Keep doors closed to prevent flames and smoke from entering.

Place damp towels or wet rugs under or around the door to keep smoke out.

Cover your mouth or nose with something wet to breathe better.

Stand by the window and wait for the firefighters.

Open the window only if there is no smoke outside or flames and call for help.

Breaking the window is not recommended because there is no way to close it if smoke or flames enter.

Attract attention to ask for help with a rag and, if possible, open the window. Hang sheets or canvas and close the window if there is risk.

Never use an elevator, only the stairs. If you can go down, if you can't, go up to the roof and wait for help to arrive.
